Bttt. I was just on vacation in NYC and specifically avoided that tour. My family has gone through it and of course, loved it. They are active JW's.

My Story So far
by ILoveTTATT ini hope i have not fully screwed up, it seems like my friends whom i have told my true feelings realy, really, deep down inside, love me, and that's why they have not gone to the elders.
also probably because they know that i love them and would never tell them something if i wasn't 100% convinced and knew that it wasn't true.. .
i guess i can tell you a bit of my story so you can help:.

I'm glad I went back to read your story. In all my months of searching I had not come across that WT article. Slapping head that I could have ever believed any of this nonsense. I was a toddler when that was published; my parents convinced I'd never start school, then not graduate all becauses of the big A.
Wish you all the best in your exit.

If you were to protest an Assembly what would you put on your placard ?
by Finkelstein insince this topic of protesting assemblies recently came up, i was wondering .
what would be the some of the most proficient and perhaps strongest message.
to place on a placard to show as the people arrived at the venue.

I would put one question on the front and one on the back, not a whole list like I just posted. Large enough font so they could clearly see two questions.

Why do you take fractions of blood but not donate? Would Jesus have condoned this selfishness?
Why do you use emotional blackmail on your family and friends? How is that following Jesus example?
Why does a pedofile in your congregation have more protection than a child?
Did your donation help the Watchtower pay the 20 million child abuse lawsuit they lost last year?
Can you explain how you don't fit the B.I.T.E model?
If I had seen any of these questions, I honestly would have kept going back to them in my mind and started googling.

Fading hurts so much!!
by ILoveTTATT inyet another update on my story:.
for various reasons, i still have to go to all meetings.
(i am looking to change my personal circumstances to allow me to live somewhere else so i can fade easier)... i actually don't mind going to the mid-week meeting since i can comment on the bible reading, and slowly but surely i can introduce little seeds of cognitive dissonance... making it seem like i am super interested in what the interlinear says or that people can actually go and check out the manuscripts for themselves online!

It gets better as soon as you stop attending :) I decided we'd go to the Memorial and then I went to the Special Talk at another hall. My teen a daughter hasn't been all year. No one has even checked on us, except to ask for our time a few months ago. It may hurt you now, but the sooner you accept "the friends" are only friends with your belief system, the sooner you'll let grand move on.
adamah, your comment explained so much to me about my family dynamics. Thank you so so much. Paralysis of analysis - love it.

"Worlds Apart" A danish movie about a young coming of age Jehovahs Witness , screening on SBS2 tonight in Victoria
by smiddy ini know their have been screenings of this movie before , but this notice is for any newbies here that may not have seen it previously.
it is scheduled to screen at 10:25 pm on ch.32 sbs2 sun.25/8/13 .
maybe other states in australia can view it on-line , or request it be shown by sbs in their state.. it is an interesting movie , and apart from minor flaws , pretty accurate despite the beard, though i am told the danes are a bit more liberal than the west.. the real / actual jehovahs witness this story is based on has a cameo appearance near the end of this movie in the train sequence.. please let me know if you watch it and your thoughts about it .. smiddy.

I rented it from the library, in the U.S. Found it quite enjoyable and thought it was well done. Enjoy, for those of you watching tonight.

Why 1914 is utterly true (and so is 607 B.C.E.)
by Terry in1914 is a very significant date for true believers.
faithful and eager students of the scriptures figured out (and "proved") jesus would return to kill the wicked and reward the meek in 1874. the signs were obvious.
but, it didn't happen.

To the young JW visitors....
by snare&racket intruth does not need protecting, it can protect itself.
no knowledge is dangerous to what is true as what is true can never be proven otherwise.. .
ask questions, trust yourself, trust your motives as you will never know anothers, trust your reading and research.
